About the position

The Hardware Systems Engineer at Rekor Systems will design, implement, and optimize systems that integrate advanced technology with data analytics to enhance traffic management and law enforcement solutions. This role involves collaboration with support teams, field deployments, and ensuring system reliability through proactive maintenance and troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

  • Create system and module level block diagrams.
  • Collaborate with the support team to maintain and troubleshoot customer issues.
  • Support field deployments, including on-site setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Prepare product reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing systems information and trends.
  • Ensure equipment remains operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; follow manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; request special services.
  • Write and update internal and external user documentation for Rekor products.
  • Create and execute test plans for hardware, software, and system level validation, including testing outside of the office environment.
  • Develop and support factory test environments for system-level testing.
  • Proactively investigate failure root causes and recommend actions to enhance system and equipment reliability.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot system performance, making adjustments and improvements as necessary.
  • Document all work clearly using work tracking tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering (Systems or Electrical), Computer Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years of applicable systems engineering experience.
  • Proficiency in system architecture and hardware/software integration.
  • Experience with Linux, especially Ubuntu distribution.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment, including electronic loads, oscilloscopes, power supplies, etc.
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex systems.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • 3-D Modeling and Printing.
  • Programming knowledge: Python, Shell scripting.
  • Computer hardware knowledge, including networking.
  • Electronics and circuit design and simulators.
  • Experience with machine learning for data analytics.
  • Knowledge of traffic management systems or law enforcement applications.
