About the position

The System Hardware Integration Electrical Engineer position at Apple focuses on the design, build, and validation of hardware for the Apple Watch. This role involves significant cross-functional collaboration with various engineering teams to turn architectural concepts into reality, ensuring the integration of complex systems in one of Apple's most personal devices. The position requires a blend of technical expertise in electrical engineering and hands-on experience in product development, with a strong emphasis on problem-solving and innovation.

Responsibilities

  • Design and validate PCB and FPC for system integration.
  • Conduct bench validation, electrical function verification, and signal characterization.
  • Perform hands-on debugging and failure analysis of manufacturing and component quality issues.
  • Support factory builds from early NPI through product ramp.
  • Engage in early architecture handoff and technology concept investigations.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering with 2-5 years of relevant industry hardware experience.
  • Excellent understanding of system integration product design and embedded communication protocols (USB, SPI, I2C, UART, JTAG/SWD).
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using Cadence tools or similar.
  • Strong working knowledge of prototyping, hardware bring-up, and bench debug.
  • Hands-on experience with standard EE lab equipment (DMM, Oscilloscope, Power Supply, etc.).
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical information clearly.

Nice-to-haves

  • 5+ years experience in high volume consumer electronics hardware development.
  • Experience with sensitive sensor design and integration, including RF/wireless issues.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and innovative solution development.
  • Eagerness to learn new skills and take on challenges.
  • Strong sense of personal ownership and ability to handle tasks independently.
