About the position

In this role, you will work closely with a multi-disciplinary team to develop and integrate hardware systems for future Apple products. The position requires the ability for independent precise detail design work as well as high level system understanding. You will play a key role in designing and developing the hardware for these systems and should be comfortable with defining complex electrical system architectures and hands-on hardware bring-up, debug, and prototyping. The Apple Home group is dedicated to creating groundbreaking devices that incorporate complex hardware, sensors, and software, and your contributions will be vital to the success of these innovative products. Your responsibilities will include ownership of electrical architecture and implementation, schematic creation, layout responsibility, hardware validation, and prototyping proof of concepts. You will need to demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, as well as the ability to work in a dynamic environment. Successful candidates will have a strong working experience in electrical design, including component selection, circuit design, schematic capture, component placement, and PCB/flex layout. You will also be expected to stay organized, execute to a timeline, and produce high-quality deliverables while collaborating with your team to ensure the successful integration of hardware systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and integrate hardware systems for future Apple products.
  • Define complex electrical system architectures.
  • Perform hands-on hardware bring-up, debug, and prototyping.
  • Create schematics and take responsibility for layout.
  • Validate hardware and prototype proof of concepts.
  • Collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team to ensure successful integration of hardware systems.

Requirements

  • BS in electrical engineering or computer engineering required.
  • 3+ years of relevant industry experience focusing on hardware system design.
  • Strong working experience in electrical design, including component selection, circuit design, schematic capture, component placement, and PCB/flex layout.
  • Excellent EE fundamentals and analog design knowledge focusing on DC/DC, power and signal integrity, and SPICE simulations.
  • Knowledge of embedded processor peripheral interfaces (PCIe, USB, I2C, CAN, SPI, storage, high speed serial).
  • Strong working knowledge of best practices for PCB/flex layout and construction.
  • Proven experience in taking designs from concept to mass production.
  • Hands-on experience with test equipment including oscilloscope, multi-meters, and more for prototype bring-up, debugging, and functional validation.
