About the position

Lightmatter is seeking a talented engineer to provide technical leadership within the Hardware Systems organization, focusing on the development of the next generation of silicon photonics-based artificial intelligence accelerators and interconnect products. As a Technical Lead, you will play a crucial role in delivering board and system solutions that leverage Lightmatter's innovative technology, aimed at creating state-of-the-art machine learning and massive scale-out interconnect platforms. This position requires close collaboration with various teams, including hardware and software engineers, mechanical engineers, packaging specialists, and IC engineers, to design and build leading-edge system-level products. In this role, you will be responsible for collaborating with the Systems Architect and design engineers to develop optimal solutions that meet system design requirements. You will provide guidance and recommendations to board designers to ensure the highest quality products are produced. Additionally, you will review board and system designs to identify technical challenges and assess the overall status of all facets of the system designs, including electrical, mechanical, and thermal aspects. Effective communication with other Technical Leads is essential to ensure that dependencies are understood and milestones are met throughout the project lifecycle. Your responsibilities will also include ensuring that the board and system designs are manufacturable using the latest technologies, achieving high yield and robustness. You will manage relationships with component vendors and other supply partners, as well as research new components, processes, and technologies to meet product goals. This position is ideal for a collaborative engineer or scientist who is passionate about innovation and solving challenging technical problems in the field of artificial intelligence computing.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Systems Architect and design engineers to develop optimal solutions for system design requirements
  • Provide guidance and recommendations to board designers to ensure the highest quality products
  • Review board and system designs to understand technical challenges and overall status in all facets of the system designs including electrical, mechanical, and thermal
  • Communicate with other team Technical Leads to ensure dependencies are understood and milestones are met
  • Ensure the board and system is manufacturable to the latest technologies with high yield and robustness
  • Manage and work with component vendors and other supply partners
  • Research new components, processes, and technologies to meet product goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline with at least 12 years of relevant experience, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in electrical board design, having successfully taken several products from concept to production
  • In depth knowledge on VRMs, high speed SERDES, CPUs and various interfaces/protocols such as PCIe, Ethernet, QSPI, I3C, I2C, etc
  • Experience leading technical teams with successful execution

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with laser driver and temperature control circuit design
  • Good Communication and verbal skills
