About the position

As an iPhone Hardware Systems Validation Engineer at Apple, you will play a crucial role in delivering electrical validation milestones from prototype to launch. This position requires collaboration with the iPhone System Integration Team, utilizing your technical expertise to drive projects and ensure high-quality results in a fast-paced environment. You will tackle complex technical challenges, build validation automation architecture, and contribute to risk mitigation while engineering innovative products.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with EE design and SI/PI teams to define rigorous test plans for products focusing on system performance and margining.
  • Drive the execution of test plans with subsystem owners and CM partners.
  • Collaborate with EE and multi-functional teams to review results and feed validation findings back into design improvements.
  • Effectively report validation progress, risks, and top issues to the broader team and upper management.
  • Develop innovative validation process improvements, such as scripting automation and test board design.
  • Track and manage electrical validation schedules partnering with EPMs and technical leads.
  • Participate in debug activities, including actively driving design of experiments (DOEs).
  • Lead and coach other validation engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering or Computer Science.
  • Expertise with hardware bring-up and bench-top measurements with lab equipment (e.g. digital oscilloscope, logic analyzer, power supply) for signal and power integrity.
  • Strong communication and people skills, able to work with multi-functional teams regularly.
  • Basic understanding of both low-speed and high-speed digital interfaces.
  • Familiarity with power electronics, especially DC-DC converters.

Nice-to-haves

  • Strong electrical engineering fundamentals and experience working on high-volume consumer electronics.
  • Hands-on experience with low-speed and high-speed digital interfaces (e.g. I2C, SPI, PCIe, USB) at both the electrical/physical level as well as the protocol level.
  • In-depth knowledge of power integrity, including analog designs such as DC-DC converters.
  • Experience with project management and data analysis tools (e.g. Tableau, pivot tables, Gantt charts).
  • Ability to root-cause issues and recommend design improvements.
  • Experience with scripting languages and instrument automation (e.g. Python, LabVIEW).
