About the position

Snap-on Diagnostics, a division of Snap-on Inc., is seeking a Hardware Engineering Test Engineer to join our Platform Development Engineering design team in Lincolnshire, IL. This role is pivotal in the product design and development of automotive diagnostic test equipment tailored for the automotive service market. As a senior-level contributor and project leader, you will independently design and develop requirements, test systems, and test software. Your expertise will be crucial in directing technical personnel to support various project and process initiatives. In this position, you will be responsible for developing new test and validation processes and procedures in collaboration with engineering development teams. This collaboration is essential to support product development from the initial concept phase through to the manufacturing product launch phase. Additionally, you will play a key role in supporting sustaining products in manufacturing by maintaining effective communication with engineering and operations teams. Your contributions will ensure that our products meet the highest standards of quality and performance throughout their lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate the NPI-New Product Introduction process through test engineering processes to support the transition of products from development phase through manufacturing and sustaining phases.
  • Communicate with internal and external manufacturing sites regarding product manufacturing and testing requirements.
  • Develop product test procedures and test equipment requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent work experience.
  • Extensive technical knowledge and a minimum of 5-7 years of related industry experience.
  • Experience in project management in a product development engineering field.
  • Experience with test system design and test requirements development against product functional requirements.
  • Experience with DFM-Design For Manufacturing/Manufacturability.
  • Experience with Windows PC based test tools (i.e.: Labview, etc.) and related script-based test development for product testing and manufacturing testing.
  • Experience in reading electronic schematics, read/review PCB layout routing, electronic components, and embedded electronic products.
  • Familiar with assisting in capital expenditure requests.
  • Familiar with UL and CE product safety test standards including EMC.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
