About the position

The Hardware Test Engineer II at Motorola Solutions is responsible for designing, executing, and documenting testing activities for hardware and software/firmware in electronic systems and components. This role involves troubleshooting nonconforming items, leading compliance efforts for various certification requirements, and maintaining certification documentation. The engineer will work closely with the engineering team to ensure products meet high-quality standards and regulatory compliance in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Creating and documenting test procedures for product hardware and software/firmware testing.
  • Designing, assembling, and verifying test fixtures for production and product verification.
  • Evaluating components for suitability through thorough testing and providing implementation guidelines.
  • Conducting evaluations of complementary and competitive products through testing.
  • Reviewing and guiding electronics design to meet certification requirements.
  • Identifying and resolving electronics issues and malfunctions, performing maintenance tasks, and implementing upgrades or repairs.
  • Submitting and guiding electronics through relevant certification agencies, including UL, RoHS, and FCC.
  • Planning testing and compliance projects, defining scope, setting timelines, and managing resources.
  • Staying updated on the latest trends and advances in electronics regulations to ensure compliance.
  • Communicating with the Director of Engineering and Project Management to implement company strategies.
  • Maintaining accurate records, preparing technical reports, and documenting all aspects of testing and regulatory projects.
  • Engaging in lifelong learning and attending conferences, workshops, and training sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics engineering or a similar field.
  • 4+ years of experience in testing and regulatory compliance, preferably in industrial or medical fields.
  • Strong experience with OpAmp circuits, filters, power supplies, buck & boost converters, ADC & DAC applications, schematic capture, I2C, SPI, & UART, audio CODECs, amplifiers, microphones, and speakers, isolated input/output, Ethernet, USB2 & USB3, IoT and power-sensitive products, basic sensors, PC Board Engineering, passive component selection, electronics troubleshooting, UL compliance, FCC regulations, RoHS, WEEE, and Prop65 regulation requirements.
