About the position

The Hardware Test Engineer position at Siemens eMobility involves evaluating and designing circuit systems for electric vehicle supply equipment (EVSE). The role focuses on ensuring product compliance with industry standards, conducting root cause analysis, and supporting interoperability performance through testing. This position is integral to the development of innovative EV charging technologies and requires collaboration across various teams to enhance product offerings.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluating circuit designs for embedded EVSE systems using Altium or similar tools.
  • Performing circuit simulations using Altium SPICE.
  • Conducting root cause analysis of current product lines for future design iterations.
  • Modifying and creating circuits based on continuous improvement activities.
  • Creating technical specifications for design and testing phases of projects.
  • Supporting EVSE interoperability performance through testing and test case development.
  • Coordinating investigations related to customer concerns and launching product updates.
  • Evaluating market and intellectual property trends to achieve competitive excellence.
  • Ensuring compliance of products to UL, FCC, Energy Star, IEC, and NEC standards.
  • Working across a large range of electronic package sizes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • 2-5+ years of experience with PCBA design in Altium or similar tools.
  • Experience in interoperability testing of EVSEs and EVs.
  • Detailed knowledge of Control pilot communication between EVSE and EV.
  • Knowledge of real-time Embedded C applications on 8-bit, 16-bit, and 32-bit processors.
  • Competence in design of high-speed interfaces, microprocessor selection, and power circuits.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with mechanical and software teams.
  • Knowledge of UL, IEC, and NEC standards.
  • Must be authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.
