About the position

The Hardware Test Engineer will support the Lone Wolf program, which operates and maintains the Distributed Continuity Integrated Network - Top Secret Enterprise Services (DCIN-TS ES). This role involves testing hardware, collaborating with vendors, and ensuring that system requirements are met through rigorous evaluation and reporting. The position requires critical thinking, adaptability, and a strong work ethic in a dynamic environment focused on innovative solutions for complex hardware applications.

Responsibilities

  • Test all hardware, including new features, enhancements, and fixes for bugs and defects.
  • Work with hardware vendors to determine the next generation of devices before they reach end of life.
  • Configure and test STIGs for functionality on IT systems.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement automated test tools and strategies.
  • Design, implement, and conduct test and evaluation procedures to ensure system requirements are met.
  • Write, implement, and report status of test cases to program government leads.
  • Track test execution milestones and report on issues and risks having the potential to affect project timelines.
  • Serve as subject matter specialist providing testing expertise for support of user requirements of complex to highly complex hardware applications.
  • Develop, release, and maintain test procedures.
  • Demonstrate creativity and foresight by identifying, preparing, and presenting detailed technical reports and briefings on new concepts and technical directions impacting programs/projects, and defining future technology requirements.
  • Collaborate with other engineers in the planning, design, development, and testing of new technologies.
  • Evaluate alternative courses of action and make recommendations based on sound research.
  • Work with product owners to understand desired application capabilities and testing scenarios.

Requirements

  • DoD 8140 IAT baseline certification: Security+ CE certification or equivalent.
  • Windows 10 certification - MCSA or Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate (MDAA).
  • Experience in testing software in a DoD or Intelligence Community environment.
  • Collaborate with software test engineers and other stakeholders to address any and all compatibility concerns.
  • Experience with configuration management and software release cycles.
  • Proficiency in testing methodologies, tools, and processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Ability to adapt to changing technology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Possess or have ability to obtain Certified Third Party Risk Professional (CTPRP) certification.
  • Ability to obtain MS 98-365: Windows Server Administration Fundamentals certification.
  • Solid understanding of Microsoft Windows 2019 Server, Microsoft Windows 10 and 11, Microsoft Exchange, SQL, Active Directory, Microsoft Office 2019, KMS, DNS, WSUS, group policies, PKI, SharePoint, MECM, and deploying workstation images.
  • Familiarity with VMware virtualization, Commvault data backups/restores, Trellix antivirus software, Kiwi Syslog Server, ACAS, Splunk, RHEL, Citrix, Dell Wyse Management Suite, and thin or zero clients.
