About the position

We are currently hiring for a Test Engineer to join our Military team at Trimble, a market leader in high-performance embedded GPS navigation receivers for aviation applications. The Test Engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, and implementing cost-effective methods for qualification verification testing of these receivers in state-of-the-art GPS test labs. This position involves supporting products from their initial development phase through to their end of life, which includes tasks such as conceptualization, proposals, design validation, engineering changes, manufacturing problem resolution, quality issues, and the development of outsourced testing requirements. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing requirements-based test and diagnostic programs, designing test plans, procedures, fixtures, and equipment. You will also develop test automation for procedures, scenarios, equipment, and data analysis, and perform formal periodic test reviews. Analyzing system behavior under various operating scenarios to improve test efficiency and product performance will be a key part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will be involved in the design, development, integration, and release of test stations and techniques, as well as defining, outlining, and performing the training and sustaining activities required to successfully manage test verification programs. Documentation is a critical aspect of this role; you will need to document methodology for test requirements, plans, procedures, and results, ensuring the quality and accuracy of released test documentation. You will also be tasked with developing and publishing product qualification test reports, which are essential for maintaining the high standards expected in our industry.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare requirements-based test and diagnostic programs, design test plans, procedures, fixtures and equipment.
  • Develop test automation of procedures, scenarios, equipment, and data analysis.
  • Perform formal periodic test reviews.
  • Analyze system behavior under operating scenarios to improve test efficiency and product performance.
  • Design, development, integration, and release of test stations and techniques.
  • Define, outline and perform the training and sustaining activity required to successfully manage test verification programs.
  • Document methodology for test requirements, plans, procedures, and results.
  • Develop, draft, release and maintain test procedures, and perform related Configuration Management activity.
  • Ensure the quality and accuracy of released test documentation.
  • Develop and publish product qualification test reports.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering (EE), Mechanical Engineering (ME), or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated experience managing requirements-based characterization and formal verification programs for real-time embedded systems.
  • Hands-on manipulation of signal generators, signal simulators, and signal measurement equipment including oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers.
  • Test automation experience using scripting languages such as Python and custom test fixtures.
  • Data manipulation, screening, organization, and processing experience with Excel and custom programming.
  • Track record demonstrating rigorous documentation, record keeping, formal configuration management, collaboration, and communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain a DoD security clearance is required. US citizenship is also required.
