About the position

The General Manager at Martin Motorsports for the Harley-Davidson Bowling Green location is responsible for the overall successful operation of the facility. This role involves planning, motivating, and coordinating activities across all departments to ensure profitability and compliance with regulations. The GM will also develop strong relationships with factories and lending institutions, oversee employee training, and maintain high standards for facility operations and customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Notify Controller and corporate office of all legal issues promptly.
  • Inform supervisor of any personnel changes at the management level.
  • Plan the facility's operations for the upcoming year and report the plan to the President.
  • Review and recommend improvements for each department manager's forecasts and plans.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with factories and lending institutions.
  • Complete and review meeting notes for all management contacts with factory representatives and send to corporate.
  • Review and approve compensation plans for all employees (excluding Controller).
  • Ensure department managers are training and supervising employees for optimum effectiveness.
  • Oversee overall facility operation, function, and appearance.
  • Communicate policies and procedures to all employees and ensure understanding and compliance.
  • Provide positive leadership to build employee morale.
  • Develop merchandising strategies and assist in creating an effective advertising plan for the facility.
  • Attend monthly fixed operations meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding customer information and other programs, as well as federal, state, and local laws.
  • Monitor and safeguard company assets, including vehicles, inventory, and equipment.
  • Encourage community involvement of dealership employees.
  • Resolve customer complaints that line management has not resolved.
  • Understand and comply with regulations affecting dealership operations, including hazardous waste disposal and OSHA requirements.
  • Complete training as directed by management.
  • Follow corporate policies and procedures as outlined in the Personnel Policy Manual.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years in sales and supervisory capacity.
