About The Position

The Haul Truck Driver position at Texas First Rentals is responsible for the safe transportation of equipment to and from various customer job locations and stores. This role involves local hauling, loading, unloading, and securing equipment, as well as assisting with inventory and shop activities. The driver will also support engine builders during overhauls and perform vehicle inspections.

Requirements

  • Three years of driving experience preferred, with verifiable over-the-road experience operating combination commercial vehicles
  • High school or equivalent diploma preferred
  • Valid Driver's license with Class A CDL certification, DOT Physical Examination (Medical card)
  • Possess knowledge of and/or previous experience in driving delivery trucks, towing tandem axle utility trailers, and towable construction equipment, and operating safely within high-traffic or congested city zones and in small areas
  • Basic knowledge of industrial engine, transportation, and safe driving procedures
  • Knowledge and understanding of Motor Carrier Safety Regulations/DOT guidelines
  • Demonstrates proficiency with current computer software, related hardware, and machine electronic systems
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services

Responsibilities

  • Delivers and picks up equipment for customers in a safe, timely, efficient, and courteous manner
  • Secures equipment by means of chaining, strapping, and blocking under strict accordance with established procedures
  • Performs pre- and post-vehicle inspections; inspects truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during, and after delivery trips
  • Reports vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Performs basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs
  • Completes DOT-required driver's daily log and trip sheets accurately and without misrepresentation
  • Performs basic troubleshooting involving malfunctioning equipment at job site and makes minor repairs
  • Demonstrates proper and safe equipment usage to customers at the point of delivery
  • Obtains required signatures on rental contracts, pick up, and exchange forms
  • Assists with rolling cables, inventory assistance, load/unloading customers, and various shop and/or yard activities whenever required in a safe and efficient manner
  • Performs other duties as assigned
