About the position

The Hauling Operations Manager at First Piedmont Corporation is responsible for overseeing and managing the daily operations of hauling services, focusing on efficiency, safety, and customer satisfaction. This role involves leading a team of lead drivers, providing coaching and support, and ensuring operations align with the company's core values and culture.

Responsibilities

• Direct supervision of five lead drivers located in Danville, VA
• Oversee each lead driver's area of hauling to promote efficiency, safety, and company culture
• Provide guidance to lead drivers on coaching, mentoring, and training their teams
• Analyze and optimize recurring routes for efficient logistics and cost-effective operations
• Coordinate with lead drivers daily to prioritize tasks and achieve success
• Use available data and platforms to assess fuel efficiency, idle time, and safety metrics
• Coordinate with management on prospective projects which may require temporary and additional allocation of resources
• Coordinate with management, HR, and the Safety Department on successful onboarding of new drivers
• Coordinate with maintenance staff to prioritize the repair and maintenance of vehicles
• Familiarize and enforce the Department of Transportation and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration safety policies along with FPC policies and procedures to ensure compliance.

Requirements

• Experience in operations management
• Strong leadership and coaching skills
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities
• Effective communication skills
• Mechanical knowledge of commercial vehicles
• Familiarity with DOT and FMCSA regulations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
