About the position

The Hawker SIC (Second-in-Command) position at Fly Alliance is a full-time, permanent role based on the East Coast, specifically designed for individuals with a passion for aviation and a commitment to providing exceptional customer service. The successful candidate will report directly to the Chief Pilot and will be responsible for ensuring the safety and efficiency of flights while adhering to all Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs) and company policies. This role requires a calm and confident demeanor, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with other flight crew members to coordinate flight activities effectively. In this position, the SIC will be tasked with comprehensive flight planning, which includes utilizing all relevant weather information and reports to ensure that each flight is conducted safely. The SIC must verify that the aircraft is airworthy and complete all necessary preflight inspections. Additionally, the SIC will operate the aircraft under the Captain's guidance, ensuring compliance with all regulations and company procedures. The role also involves maintaining a thorough understanding of the aircraft's equipment and operational guidelines, as well as effectively communicating with crew and passengers regarding any turbulent weather conditions or operational factors that may affect the flight. The SIC will contribute to the reliability and punctuality of operations by adhering to report times, departure schedules, and minimum turn times. While at the terminal, the SIC will assist in the proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo, ensuring a smooth and professional experience for all involved. The position demands a professional appearance and adherence to the company uniform dress code, as well as a commitment to ongoing professional training and development. The SIC may also be assigned additional duties by the Chief Pilot as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the proper planning of each flight utilizing all applicable weather information and reports in accordance with Company policies and procedures and Federal Aviation Regulations (FARs).
  • Determine that the aircraft is air-worthy in accordance with FARs and Company policies and procedures; complete appropriate preflight inspections.
  • Ensure the flight is planned and fueled properly so that the flight may be conducted safely and in accordance with policies and regulations.
  • Safely, properly and effectively operate the aircraft during the designated period of duty in accordance with the Captain's instruction, FARs, and Company policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of the equipment operated, FARs governing the operation of equipment, and manuals, policies, procedures, and other instructions.
  • Notify crew and passengers of turbulent weather conditions or any other operational factors affecting the flight.
  • Complete the load manifest for each flight.
  • Contribute to a reliable and on-time operation by meeting all report times, departure times, and minimum turn times.
  • Assist with and ensure proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo while at the terminal.
  • Maintain regular and reliable attendance according to Company procedures and practices.
  • Present a professional appearance and adhere to the Company uniform dress code.
  • Conduct self professionally at all times while on duty and observe the Rules of Conduct for all associates as outlined in the Flight Operations Manual, Employee Handbook and other related policies and procedures.
  • Continue professional training towards upgrading performance and abilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Company and Chief Pilot.

Requirements

  • Three (3) years proven experience in a similar position.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Meets the Hiring Minimums within six months of the interview date.
  • Has no certificate action since the date of the interview.
  • Has no misdemeanors or felonies since the interview date.
  • Accepts class date within six months of the interview date.
  • Ability to read, analyze, interpret and understand technical procedures and governmental regulations, sometimes quickly and under stressful or emergency situations.
  • Able to effectively present information to and respond to questions from management, dispatch, crew, passengers, air traffic control, and the general public.
  • Able to speak and be understood in English, including shouted verbal commands during emergency situations.
