About the position
The Heavy Equipment Operator at Republic Services is responsible for safely operating various light and heavy equipment within a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill. This role is crucial for managing waste operations, ensuring safety, and maintaining equipment functionality while adhering to environmental standards.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate various light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill.
- Assist in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.
- Operate equipment to stabilize and handle waste materials.
- Process treatment of materials and containers.
- Sample post-treated materials for testing by laboratory.
- Load cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
- Perform general preventative maintenance to equipment and general housekeeping duties.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Current 40-hour HAZWOPER Training or ability to pass course upon hire.
- Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
- Ability to use hand and power tools applicable to the role.
- Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including checking tire pressure, oil, and water levels.
- Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
