About the position
The North Carolina Department of Information Technology (NCDIT) - Transportation Division is offering a 10-week internship opportunity for the position of NCDIT/Transportation STARS Intern. This remote internship will take place from May 27 to August 1, 2025, and is designed for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in IT support, programming, and database management. Interns will work with the STARS (Statewide Transportation Automated Records System) team, providing valuable insights into the intersection of technology and transportation.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Help Desk support, providing troubleshooting and technical assistance to users
- Gain exposure to COBOL programming, helping to maintain and update transportation systems
- Work with SQL databases, supporting data management and query tasks
- Collaborate with team members on ongoing projects and initiatives
- Participate in training sessions and development activities to enhance your technical skills
Requirements
- Currently enrolled full-time student in a bachelor's, master's, or professional level program at an accredited institution
- Completion of 24 credit hours
- Minimum overall GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Strong interest in programming, technical support, and database management
Nice-to-haves
- Completion of coding courses, preferably in COBOL or SQL
- Pursuing a degree in Information Technology or a related field
