About the position

Henderson Engineers is seeking a Commissioning Technician to execute building commissioning and retro-commissioning tasks, including field observation, testing, report generation, and project planning. The role involves working on various systems such as mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, technology, security, and fire systems, ensuring project success through effective communication with clients and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Execute building commissioning and retro-commissioning tasks on projects including field observation and testing.
  • Perform field observations and testing of building mechanical, electrical, plumbing, lighting, technology, security, and fire systems.
  • Execute installation verification and functional performance testing on-site for multiple project types.
  • Create written reports to document system performance deficiencies.
  • Assist in the creation of testing documentation and project planning.
  • Help guide others in the commissioning process.
  • Develop and maintain client and trade partner relationships.
  • Serve as a third-party to design teams and assist in meeting established project goals.
  • Perform troubleshooting and/or provide resolution for MEP Systems.

Requirements

  • Degree in Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Construction Engineering/Management preferred.
  • 1-3+ years of relevant experience.
  • Test and balance experience and certification with ACG or NEBB is a huge plus.
  • Experience or interest in automation and controls systems of HVAC, plumbing, fire alarm/life safety systems, lighting and lighting controls, and test and balance.
  • Experience with design of mechanical and electrical systems for commercial, institutional, and light industrial facilities as they relate to commissioning.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Possess organization skills and are detail-oriented.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
