As an Onsite Payroll Specialist, you will efficiently execute the transactional day-to-day HD and Pre-Payroll activities to support the strategy defined by the HDBP. Your role will involve improving the collaborator experience by enhancing our current processes. You will provide strategic and tactical HD solutions and support in the functional area of HD, taking a hands-on approach and being comfortable interacting with all levels of employees. Your daily responsibilities will include providing support and solutions to hourly and salary collaborators regarding their payroll needs, acting as the first point of contact for HDBPs in their daily needs related to the collaborator's life cycle. You will verify payroll entries and changes, manage pension reports, handle workers' compensation requests, and support all bonus programs as defined by the company and collective bargaining agreements. Additionally, you will process payroll corrections, prepare approved Petty Cash Vouchers, and ensure compliance with federal guidelines for FMLA administration. You will also maintain personnel files, update employee records, and provide customer service to employees on various HR and payroll topics. Your active involvement with internal customers will ensure that questions and concerns are addressed in a timely manner, supporting department goals and initiatives. Furthermore, you will manage SPX vendor invoices, support Learning & Development initiatives, and conduct employee-related training as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support and solutions to hourly and salary collaborators regarding payroll needs.
  • Verify payroll entries and changes for accuracy and report discrepancies.
  • Manage pension reports and workers' compensation requests.
  • Support bonus programs as defined by the company and collective bargaining agreements.
  • Process payroll corrections and strive to reduce payroll errors.
  • Prepare approved Petty Cash Vouchers and enter new hire hours for training.
  • Carry out end-year payroll activities and support FMLA and other leave programs.
  • Ensure compliance with federal guidelines for FMLA administration.
  • Maintain personnel files and update employee records with new hire information.
  • Provide customer service to employees on HR and payroll topics.
  • Manage SPX vendor invoices and support Learning & Development initiatives.
  • Conduct employee-related training and manage hiring, termination, and absenteeism data.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred in Business or HR field, or 5-7 years of experience in human resources.
  • 1-3+ years of experience in payroll management or 5-7+ years without a degree.
  • Experience in a unionized environment setting, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Oracle HRIS, and ADP Payforce.
  • Strong understanding of state and government regulations, EEO, HIPAA, FMLA, FLSA, NLRB, and DOL standards.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to resolve conflicts effectively.

Nice-to-haves

  • PHR, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, or SHRM-CP Certification preferred.
  • Experience in human resources for 2 years preferred.
