About the position

The Head Boys Golf Coach at Shorewood School District is responsible for educating and mentoring young athletes in the fundamentals of golf. This part-time, seasonal role focuses on developing students' skills, fostering a love for the game, and promoting teamwork and sportsmanship in a supportive environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct individual and group golf lessons for students of all ages and skill levels.
  • Develop tailored training programs that focus on improving students' techniques, strategies, and overall performance.
  • Provide constructive feedback and guidance to help students reach their personal goals.
  • Implement behavior management techniques to maintain a positive and productive learning atmosphere.
  • Organize and oversee practice sessions, ensuring that all equipment is safe and functional.
  • Foster teamwork and sportsmanship among students, encouraging them to support one another.
  • Collaborate with other coaches and staff to create a comprehensive athletic program that includes various sports such as basketball, martial arts, judo, and climbing.
  • Maintain open communication with parents regarding student progress and development.

Requirements

  • Previous experience working with students in a coaching or educational capacity is preferred.
  • Strong behavior management skills to effectively guide young athletes.
  • Knowledge of golf fundamentals and techniques; experience in other sports such as basketball, judo, karate, or martial arts is a plus.
  • Ability to create engaging lesson plans that cater to different learning styles.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • A passion for teaching and mentoring young athletes in a gym or outdoor setting.
  • Certification in First Aid/CPR is desirable but not mandatory.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in coaching other sports such as basketball, judo, or martial arts.
  • CPR Certification.
