About the position
Badger Hill Brewing is seeking a Head Brewer to join our dynamic team at our production brewery located in Shakopee, MN. This full-time position is pivotal in overseeing all aspects of beer development, quality assurance, production, and packaging. The Head Brewer will be responsible for producing over 5,000 barrels annually using both a 10 barrel and a 30 barrel brewhouse. This role is not only about brewing; it involves leadership, management, and collaboration with various teams to ensure the brewery operates smoothly and efficiently. As the Head Brewer, you will define and develop all beer styles and brands, including flavor profiles, alcohol by volume (ABV), and recipes. You will implement and manage standard operating procedures for the production of beer and other beverages, which includes milling, wort production, cellaring, transferring, and packaging. Additionally, you will oversee equipment operation, sanitization, and maintenance, ensuring that all processes meet quality assurance and control standards. Leadership is a key component of this role. You will directly supervise and develop all production employees, which includes hiring, training, conducting performance reviews, and managing terminations. You will also coordinate production scheduling in alignment with sales and taproom functions, ensuring that production goals are met. Your responsibilities will extend to managing relationships with key suppliers for raw materials, overseeing the ordering and inventory processes, and maintaining major mechanical equipment and supporting infrastructure. As a member of the management team, you will participate in strategic planning and represent the brewery at various industry, marketplace, and community events. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in brewing, excellent problem-solving skills, and a positive, flexible attitude. Responsibilities
- Define and develop all beer styles and brands including flavor profiles, ABVs, and recipes.

- Ensure quality assurance and control throughout the brewing process.

- Maintain major mechanical equipment and supporting infrastructure.
- Manage the MRP system (Ekos) for accurate tracking of production variables and costs.
- Participate as a leading member of the company's management team.
- Coordinate and manage relationships with strategic partners.
- Represent the brewery in industry, marketplace, and community events.
- Assist in any or all phases of production as required.
Requirements
- 5 or more years of commercial brewing, packaging, and leadership experience.
- Formal education in brewing, food science, manufacturing, or related fields strongly desired.
- Familiarity with production management (MRP) and basic business systems and software.
- Strong critical thinking, problem solving, team working, and communication skills.
- Flexible work schedule with a 'can do' attitude.
