About the position

The Head Cashier at Cavender's Boot City plays a crucial role in ensuring a positive shopping experience for customers. This position requires greeting and thanking every customer who enters and exits the store, creating a welcoming atmosphere. The Head Cashier must be proficient in all aspects of the Cavender's cashiering system and knowledgeable about the paperwork associated with each transaction. This includes handling various types of sales such as cash, checks, credit cards, and managing voids and exchanges. Additionally, the Head Cashier is responsible for maintaining a neat and clean work environment, answering phone inquiries with enthusiasm and professionalism, and supporting management with various tasks including stocking merchandise and maintaining visual displays. In this role, the Head Cashier will also be expected to promote store specials and suggest add-on purchases to enhance the customer experience. It is essential for the Head Cashier to stay updated on sales promotions and practice inventory control, particularly with boots, ensuring that all items are correctly matched and accounted for. The position requires a commitment to the company’s culture and values, and the Head Cashier will work closely with supervisors to achieve the company’s goals related to average dollar sales and units per transaction. Overall, the Head Cashier is a key member of the store team, responsible for not only managing transactions but also contributing to a positive and efficient store environment.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and thank every customer who enters and leaves the store.
  • Perform cashiering tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Keep work area neat, clean, and organized.
  • Be knowledgeable about CBC policies and procedures.
  • Handle all CBC cashiering transactions including cash sales, check sales, non-taxable sales, credit cards, voids, and exchanges.
  • Enter all sales and monies in the register at the time of sale.
  • Help stock merchandise and straighten the store as needed.
  • Suggest possible add-on purchases to customers and promote store specials.
  • Report to work promptly, neatly groomed, and appropriately attired.
  • Be security conscious at all times.
  • Provide knowledgeable responses to phone inquiries regarding sales, promotions, store location, price, and inventory.
  • Stay updated on sale promotions including items and prices.
  • Practice inventory control on boots and check for boot mis-mates.
  • Follow company policy on all commission sales and validate all sales tickets.
  • Perform all other miscellaneous duties as assigned.
  • Work with supervisors to understand actions needed to impact desired company goals.
