About the position

The Head Cashier at Sprouts Farmers Market is responsible for supervising a team of cashiers while ensuring exceptional customer service in a fast-paced retail environment. This role involves mentoring cashiers, managing operational issues, and maintaining store standards, all while promoting a friendly and healthy shopping experience for customers.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a team of cashiers and assist with operational issues.
• Ensure excellent customer service by proactively visiting registers and providing direction/support to Cashiers and Courtesy Clerks.
• Assist in resolving potential customer assistance issues at the register.
• Assign store sweeps, monitor cash register supply levels, and maintain cleanliness standards in restrooms and parking lots.
• Maintain visibility of exit doors for security and loss prevention.
• Schedule and oversee proper execution of meal and rest breaks in compliance with company policy and state requirements.
• Assist in the hiring and training of new Cashiers and take necessary steps for disciplinary actions.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess a high school diploma or GED.
• 1-2 years of recent cashiering experience supplemented with leadership training.
• Dependable and reliable with the ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Outgoing and friendly behavior with a positive attitude and ability to interact with customers.
• Ability to operate front end equipment such as registers, calculators, and scanners.
• Good communication skills and ability to take direction and constructive criticism.
• Ability to perform repetitious activities and multi-task effectively.
• Must lift/carry products weighing up to 30 lbs and move grocery carts requiring a force up to 35 lbs.
