About the position

The Head Cook at Casa Rondeña Winery is responsible for assisting in the preparation and execution of high-quality dishes, ensuring that each plate meets the winery's standards of excellence. This role involves close collaboration with the Executive Chef to support daily kitchen operations and contribute to the creative development of seasonal menus, while also managing kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items, including appetizers, entrees, and desserts.
  • Prepare ingredients by chopping vegetables, cutting meat, and performing other tasks as needed for meal preparation.
  • Monitor stock levels and ensure proper storage of ingredients and kitchen supplies.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Support the Executive Chef in planning and executing special events, wine dinners, and private functions.
  • Ensure consistency and quality in every dish served, with attention to presentation.
  • Assist with inventory management and ordering of supplies.
  • Manage kitchen operations in the absence of the Executive Chef, ensuring smooth and efficient service.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, promoting a positive and collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years experience in a restaurant or catering environment.
  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, kitchen equipment, and safety practices.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Passion for food and a commitment to delivering high-quality culinary experiences.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects (up to 50 pounds).
