About the position

The Head Coach for Football at East Gaston High Health Sciences Academy is responsible for leading the football program, promoting sportsmanship, and ensuring the academic and moral success of student-athletes. This part-time position requires collaboration with faculty and staff, effective communication with the community, and adherence to athletic policies and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Promote the sport within the school and recruit athletes.
  • Maintain good public relations with media, parents, and fans.
  • Present information to media regarding schedules and results.
  • Understand and follow the administrative line of command for grievances.
  • Maintain discipline and work to increase morale among players and staff.
  • Delegate duties and evaluate assistant coaches at season's end.
  • Establish the fundamental philosophy and techniques to be taught by staff.
  • Conduct conferences and clinics for staff training and awareness.
  • Provide documentation for state and system requirements regarding athletes.
  • Monitor student-athletes' grades and conduct closely.
  • Be present at all practices and games, providing guidance and support.
  • Initiate programs concerning injuries and medical attention for athletes.
  • Complete paperwork for athletic injuries promptly.
  • Assist athletes with college or advanced educational selections.
  • Direct student managers, assistants, trainers, and statisticians.
  • Organize pre-season meetings with parents, coaches, and players.
  • Assist the Athletic Director with scheduling and transportation for events.
  • Participate in budgeting for the next season's requirements.
  • Recommend equipment specifications and operate within budget.
  • Advise on policy and procedural changes to the Athletic Director.
  • Prepare for scheduled sports events and practices, adhering to facility times.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and school employees for program needs.
  • Safeguard and maintain assigned equipment and facilities.
  • Monitor cleanliness of locker rooms and sports equipment.
  • Secure the building after practices and games if custodians are not present.
  • Instill respect for equipment and school property in players.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Considerable experience in group leadership.
  • Previous successful coaching experience in football.
  • Thorough knowledge of athletic policies and regulations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in promoting sports programs outside of school.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate coaching staff effectiveness.
  • Knowledge of new theories and procedures in football coaching.

Benefits

  • Part-time position with a salary range of $33.8K - $42.8K per year.
