About the position

The Head Coach/General Manager position for the A7FL in West Covina, CA, is a part-time, contract role focused on leading and managing a team in a 7-on-7 no helmets, no pads football league. The coach will be responsible for recruiting players, organizing practices, and overseeing game day operations, ensuring the team is prepared for the season starting March 16, 2025. This role requires effective leadership, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to fostering a positive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Work with division managers to identify and attract local football talent.
• Organize and run preseason drills/workouts/tryouts/combines to assess player skill and assign positions.
• Host meetings, virtual and in person, with players and other necessary parties to address practices, operations, scheduling, or issues.
• Develop offensive, defensive, and special teams strategies.
• Assist Division Managers with player registration and roster questions or issues.
• Ensure the team is ready to play by the start of the season.
• Develop game strategies based on available personnel and opponents.
• Ensure teams are uniformed properly according to league rules and bylaws.
• Manage team staff and players to maintain orderly sidelines during games.
• Oversee travel to away games to ensure timely arrivals.
• Act as a team representative for media opportunities and promote the league.
• Encourage sportsmanlike conduct and ensure adherence to local and league medical protocols.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of relevant football coaching experience.
• Effective coaching techniques and skills.
• Strong leadership mindset and work ethic.
• Organizational skills and knowledge of football rules, regulations, strategies, and techniques.
• Ability to interface with division managers, players, coaches, venue staff, sponsors, and league management.
• Availability to work weekends and potentially holidays.
