About the position
The Middle School Volleyball Coach is responsible for developing and promoting an athletic program that emphasizes integrity, citizenship, character, and work ethic among student athletes. The coach will instruct students on respectful behavior towards themselves, opponents, and officials, while preparing them for competition and enhancing their skills through off-season programs.
Responsibilities
- Supervises the student athletes in the program
- Prepares students for competition through proper planning
- Manages off-season programs to enhance player abilities
- Serves as a role model for students
- Assists in the assessment and hiring of coaching staff
- Enhances and displays the philosophy and objectives of the department
- Works with the trainer and athletic director to ensure medical assistance is available
- Administers the District athletic codes
- Maintains records of equipment and uniforms issued
- Prepares reports for the athletic director as requested
- Supervises assistant coaches regarding player performance and program membership
- Performs other duties as determined by the principal or athletic director
Requirements
- Experience as a volleyball player or coach
- Knowledge of strategies, methods, and techniques for volleyball
- Ability to manage all aspects of a sports program
- Credentials of Maine Coaches or willingness to earn them
- Preferred employment in the Kennebunk School Department
