About the position

The Head Coach for Middle School Volleyball at Normandy Schools Collaborative is responsible for providing instruction and coaching to students, helping them develop their skills and abilities in the sport. The role contributes to the overall educational program and the growth of student athletes involved in athletics, ensuring a focus on teamwork, sportsmanship, and individual development.

Responsibilities

• Provide instruction and coach students to develop skills in volleyball.
• Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions.
• Work with school staff to plan instructional goals for student athletes.
• Establish performance criteria for competition and evaluate students' abilities.
• Protect student athletes, equipment, and facilities during activities.
• Monitor and enforce student eligibility for extracurricular participation.
• Coordinate with the athletic director to schedule competitions.
• Evaluate the coaching program and implement changes as needed.
• Supervise student athletes during competitions and trips.
• Enforce student discipline during contests and practices.
• Encourage sportsmanlike conduct among participants.
• Maintain open communication with parents, students, and staff.
• Assist in selecting equipment and instructional materials.
• Compile and maintain required reports and records.
• Oversee cleaning, repairing, and storing of athletic equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree and/or MSHSAA Requirements for Athletic Coaches.
• General knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.
• Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
