About the position

The Head Football Coach is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive football program for all levels, including Junior Knights, Middle School, Junior Varsity, and Varsity. This role emphasizes leadership, player development, and program administration, aligning with the school's mission and values. The coach will serve as a role model, manage team operations, and foster a supportive culture for student-athletes both on and off the field.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the face of the football program and a strong role model for players and coaching staff.
  • Promote the football program within the school community, ensuring alignment with the school's mission.
  • Ensure compliance with TSSAA rules and regulations for the football program.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the varsity football program, including practices, game preparation, and competition strategies.
  • Manage football program operations, including equipment, scheduling, travel, and budgeting, in coordination with the Athletic Department.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to coaches at all program levels to ensure a cohesive coaching staff and program alignment.
  • Collaborate with coaching staff to implement new ideas and approaches into the football program.
  • Actively seek out and identify coaching talent, including faculty, staff, and community coaches.
  • Provide mentorship and professional development opportunities to assistant coaches.
  • Organize and oversee youth clinics, summer camps, and development programs to build the program's talent pipeline.
  • Build connections with middle school students to promote the sport and engage them with the program.
  • Foster a team culture built on the school's mission and values.
  • Build rapport and strong relationships with all student-athletes.
  • Monitor the academic performance of student-athletes to ensure eligibility requirements are met.
  • Guide and support student-athletes pursuing collegiate football, including recruitment and eligibility processes.
  • Maintain relationships with coaches and recruiters to advocate for student-athletes.

Requirements

  • Active faith life and membership in a Christian church.
  • Prior experience coaching in a highly competitive environment; head coaching or coordinator level experience preferred.
  • Ability to build team culture and community based on Christian faith and virtues.
  • Professional and courteous interaction with students, parents, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests.
  • Willingness to collaborate with academic staff to support student-athletes academically and athletically.
  • Demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.
  • Understanding of and passion for the school's mission and values, with the ability to articulate this.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
