About the position

The Head Girls Tennis Coach at Crook County High School is responsible for providing leadership and control over students participating in the sports program. This position requires successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school level, and the ability to complete mandated trainings by the OSAA prior to working with CCSD athletes. The coach will be compensated on the extra duty schedule for time involved in activities normally occurring after school hours, understanding that many responsibilities require extra hours without additional compensation. The coach will report directly to the Athletic Director and is expected to maintain effective communication with students, parents, and school staff.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventories and arrange for proper issuance and cleaning of equipment.
  • Assume responsibility for the care, marking, and security of equipment, supplies, and physical properties used by participants.
  • Maintain facilities in a usable and safe manner.
  • Set up well-organized practice schedules and ensure staff and participants are well-informed.
  • Maintain effective communication with the entire coaching staff, students, parents, school staff members, and media.
  • Cooperate with the Athletic Director in scheduling, finances, purchasing, and athletic eligibility of student athletes.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adherence to district Athletic Handbook and school athletic philosophy and policies.
  • Supervise assistant coaches and ensure they are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Supervise athletes during practices and games, ensuring they understand responsibilities, rules, strategy, and goals.
  • Demonstrate and teach necessary athletic skills.
  • Ensure all necessary steps are taken to prevent injuries and maintain trained assistants for injury care.
  • Demonstrate self-control and poise at practices and in game situations.
  • Maintain high academic standards during the sport season.
  • Support the entire athletic program by encouraging participation in all sports and attending other athletic events.
  • Prepare and work within a budget to support the athletic program.
  • Ensure teams represent their school with conduct and appearance beyond reproach.
  • Instill a playing style and attitude that encourages success.
  • Emphasize the importance of good scholarship and citizenship among athletes.
  • Represent the team and school professionally and resolve differences constructively.
  • Hold a current first aid card and practice appropriate emergency procedures.
  • Perform other responsibilities as required by the position or directed by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Successful coaching experience, preferably at the high school level.
  • Willingness to complete OSAA mandated trainings: NFHS's Fundamentals of Coaching, Anabolic Steroids, Concussion Management, Guide to Heat Acclimatization.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal history background check.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1st Aid Card or ability to obtain one.
  • 1-3 years of coaching experience at the high school level or beyond.
  • Experience working with high school students.
  • Knowledgeable about fundraising.
  • Understanding of OSAA rules and regulations.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Ability to work with individuals and large groups, including parents, community members, and boosters.
