About the position

The Head Golf Professional at Pinehurst No. 9 is responsible for managing the overall golf operations, ensuring a high-quality golfing experience for members and guests. This role requires collaboration with various departments to uphold Pinehurst's values of genuine hospitality and inspired innovation while creating memorable experiences on the golf course.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the Pinehurst No. 9 golf experience.
  • Oversee and manage all on-course experiences including pace of play and comfort stations.
  • Manage the use and operation of practice facilities.
  • Represent Pinehurst No. 9 at functions and speaking engagements.
  • Assist in budgeting and ensure cost control while maintaining quality.
  • Develop and mentor aspiring golf professionals.
  • Ensure quality and consistency of tournament operations.
  • Train, develop, and lead all golf operations staff.
  • Conduct interviews, hire, plan, assign, and direct work for staff.
  • Appraise performance and address employee complaints and issues.
  • Manage payroll and financial forecasting.
  • Participate in operational meetings and departmental activities.
  • Develop clinics and initiatives for membership growth.
  • Assist with member associations and events.
  • Support the Director of Golf as needed.
  • Interface regularly with employees, members, and guests.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years related experience or equivalent education and experience.
  • Class 'A' Member of the PGA.
  • Strong knowledge of Golf Genius, tournament formats, and the rules of golf.
