The Head Groundskeeper for the Trenton Thunder is responsible for maintaining the playing surface and related facilities, ensuring optimal conditions for games and events. This full-time position requires a self-driven individual who can manage a team, oversee budgets, and collaborate with various departments to maintain the stadium and its grounds effectively.

  • Maintain the playing surface and corresponding facilities including the grounds workshop, hitting tunnel, and bullpens.
  • Hire, train, and manage the Grounds Crew throughout the season.
  • Hire and train a seasonal Assistant Groundskeeper.
  • Accountable for the department budget, co-created with the President and GM.
  • Service accounts and partners related to grounds-keeping, including field maintenance equipment.
  • Self-service equipment such as mowers, sprayers, and irrigation systems.
  • Assist the Operations department with off-season stadium projects, including winterizing the ballpark.
  • Prepare the field for all Thunder home games, including pre-game and post-game preparations.
  • Assist with the planning and implementation of a new playing field set for after the 2025 season.
  • Work well with Field Staff and front office staff, and participate in off-season and non-gameday events.
  • 1-3 years of turf management experience.
  • Mandatory baseball experience, specifically with dirt.
  • Preferred experience as a Head Groundskeeper.
  • Degree in Turf Management or a similar field is preferred.
