About the position

The Head of Maintenance and Engineering is responsible for leading the Plant Maintenance team in a petrochemical facility. This role focuses on implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, ensuring equipment reliability, and maintaining safety standards to optimize operational efficiency and minimize downtime. The position requires collaboration with various departments and the management of maintenance strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of maintenance technicians, ensuring high performance and continuous skill development.
  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies aligned with organizational goals and industry standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Implement KPIs to measure and improve maintenance performance.
  • Ensure equipment availability through preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to address equipment failures.
  • Schedule maintenance activities to minimize production disruptions while maximizing uptime.
  • Oversee spare parts inventory management to optimize stock levels and reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities to meet regulatory and internal standards.
  • Develop and manage the maintenance budget, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives like Reliability-Centered Maintenance (RCM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
  • Train apprentices and junior staff to ensure stability in maintenance operations.
  • Manage engineering and construction projects for facility upgrades and de-bottlenecking.
  • Collaborate with project and construction teams during future expansion phases.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 15+ years of experience in maintenance management, with at least 5 years in a managerial role in petrochemical or chemical plants.
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities.
  • Expertise in modern maintenance practices to ensure reliability, efficiency, and safety.
  • Proficiency in maintenance management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Comprehensive understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
