About the position

The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge clinical care while shaping the future of medicine. The Department seeks a fellowship-trained Head and Neck Surgeon to join our growing academic practice who performs all aspects of ablative, robotic, and reconstructive surgery with tremendous opportunities for growth in all arms of the academic mission. We are looking for a candidate with demonstrated experience in head & neck oncologic surgery that has a track record of professional development and academic scholarship.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the teaching of residents, medical students, and other students & observers and provide CME lectures for professionals.
  • Establish a reputation of excellence in clinical and/or translational research, with the expectation of publication in refereed journals and potential external funding.
  • Develop interdisciplinary collaborations to enhance the research and clinical programs at VCU.
  • Mentor residents and students in their research.
  • Serve on departmental, Health System and/or University committees as needed.
  • Engage in professional service in their field, such as reviewer, external committee member, conference organizer, etc.
  • Demonstrate excellence in the provision of care and treatment of patients within the discipline.
  • Grow individual clinical practice and referral base.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary clinical endeavors.

Requirements

  • Board Certified/Eligible in Otolaryngology
  • Fellowship trained in Head and Neck Oncologic and Reconstructive Surgery
  • Licensed or eligibility to practice medicine in the state of Virginia upon hire
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at Virginia Commonwealth University.
