About the position

The Head of Bank Advisory for BlackRock's Financial Markets Advisory (FMA) group is a senior leadership role focused on enhancing relationships with US and Canadian banks. This position involves driving high-impact advisory work, collaborating with various business units to leverage commercial opportunities, and maintaining a deep understanding of the banking sector's strategic, regulatory, and operational trends. The role requires a strong client service mindset and the ability to lead and develop a team while advocating for innovative business initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Building relationships with senior bank decision-makers, including C-suite executives and Treasurers.
  • Sourcing and securing new advisory engagements with bank leaders in partnership with FMA capital markets experts.
  • Advocating new business initiatives and coordinating cross-business commercial opportunities with other BlackRock units.
  • Maintaining deep knowledge of bank strategic, regulatory, operational, and policy trends to drive thought leadership.
  • Designing and implementing a content and thought leadership plan to support advisory efforts.
  • Overseeing client project execution in partnership with FMA capital markets experts.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of US and Canadian bank sectors, including balance sheet strategy and regulatory matters.
  • Track record of commercial creativity and impact in originating and commercializing new ideas.
  • Client service mindset with a fiduciary approach.
  • Strong partnership skills and ability to engage clients effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate complex topics simply and impactfully.
  • Leadership experience in coaching and developing team members.
  • Self-awareness regarding strengths and development opportunities.
  • Eagerness to build a strong team culture and improve capital markets outcomes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in strategic, transactional, and risk/regulatory advisory engagements.
