About the position

The Head of Compliance Office Strategy and Initiatives at Ericsson is a senior leadership role responsible for leading the Compliance Office's strategy and initiatives. This position involves developing and implementing a comprehensive compliance program that fosters a culture of ethics and integrity across the organization. The role requires collaboration with various teams to enhance compliance strategies, manage risks, and ensure adherence to legal and ethical standards, particularly in relation to the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other compliance matters. The position is based in Washington, DC or London, UK, and reports directly to the Chief Compliance Officer.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts to enhance the Ethics & Compliance strategy and implement that strategy through the Compliance Office.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve the Ethics & Compliance framework and governance.
  • Develop a deep understanding of Compliance Office operations and identify areas for improved efficiency and digitalization.
  • Stay current on emerging issues and provide practical advice about compliance strategy and operations.
  • Assist in responding to compliance problems requiring collaboration across a matrixed organization.
  • Coordinate support within the Compliance Office of business areas and collaborate with other functions.
  • Provide legal advice on compliance matters, particularly regarding the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act.
  • Manage outside counsel and oversee the scope of work and budget.
  • Gather and analyze data to make data-driven decisions and improve Compliance Office operations.
  • Manage periodic review and continuous improvement of the Ethics & Compliance strategy and operational plan.
  • Present to executives and senior stakeholders about Compliance Office activities and operations.
  • Advise and support subject matter experts regarding the development of Ethics & Compliance Program initiatives.

Requirements

  • A law degree from an accredited law school and admission in good standing in a state bar.
  • 15+ years of experience handling compliance or related matters, with deep experience in compliance program design and operations.
  • Significant experience with the U.S. Foreign Corrupt Practices Act and other anti-corruption issues.
  • Deep experience with all aspects of an ethics and compliance program, including policies, third-party management, and risk assessments.
  • Experience in-house at a multi-national company or at a law firm advising multi-national businesses.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to independently handle and lead sophisticated matters and manage multiple matters simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically and drive projects to completion.

  • Government experience, particularly interacting with regulators in the United States.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and willingness to learn new subject matters.
  • Ability and willingness to work across international time zones.
