About the position

As the Head of Data Governance and Quality at Customers Bank, you will lead the establishment of a comprehensive data governance framework, ensuring the quality, accessibility, and privacy of data across the organization. This role focuses on fostering a data-informed culture, overseeing data governance and quality programs, and ensuring compliance with data privacy regulations. You will be instrumental in improving data accuracy, completeness, lineage, and reliability, enabling the organization to make informed, data-driven decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement an enterprise-wide data governance framework that establishes data ownership, stewardship, and accountability across the bank.
  • Oversee the data quality management process, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and reliable across critical business domains.
  • Enhance data accessibility while ensuring robust data lineage documentation and transparency across the data lifecycle.
  • Champion a data-informed culture by engaging with leadership and business units to promote best practices in data usage and stewardship.
  • Collaborate with the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) and Legal teams to enforce data privacy regulations including GDPR and CCPA.
  • Work closely with IT, Risk, Compliance, and Analytics teams to embed data governance practices into daily operations and strategic initiatives.
  • Create metrics and performance indicators to track data quality improvements and drive accountability across the organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Information Systems, Business, or related fields.
  • 10+ years of experience in data governance, data quality, or data management, preferably in financial services.
  • Proven track record of implementing data governance frameworks and leading data quality initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance related to data privacy and security (GDPR, CCPA, BCBS 239).
  • Extensive experience leading cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders to drive outcomes collaboratively.
  • Proficiency and hands-on experience configuring and implementing data governance and data quality tooling.

  • Advanced degree or certifications (e.g., CDMP, DAMA) preferred.
