About the position

The Head of Engineering will lead the engineering function of a fast-growing fintech company, focusing on the evolution of the platform and managing a team of 20 engineers. This senior role encompasses people management, technical architecture, and development processes, requiring collaboration with senior leadership to align technical strategies with business objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of 20, including four technical leads, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and accountability.
• Partner with senior leaders to align technical strategies with business goals, contributing to high-level planning and decision-making.
• Drive improvements in product velocity and production quality, establishing best practices for scalable development and deployment.
• Serve as the chief architect, overseeing the evolution of our distributed platform across cloud and on-premise environments.
• Manage and optimize our technology stack, which includes Node.js, RabbitMQ, Python, and TypeScript.
• Ensure our system architecture supports high availability, scalability, and low latency to meet the demands of professional traders.
• Define and implement engineering processes, development tools, and quality standards to enhance productivity and code reliability.
• Work to reduce technical debt, improve production stability, and streamline deployment cycles.
• Establish and maintain performance metrics to monitor progress and adjust strategies for continuous improvement.
• Build strong team dynamics within the engineering group, fostering a culture of transparency, knowledge sharing, and mutual respect.
• Mentor and guide technical leads, supporting their development and ensuring they are equipped to manage their teams effectively.
• Promote a healthy work environment by addressing cultural dynamics and uniting the team under shared goals and values.

Requirements

• Proven Experience as a senior engineering leader in fintech, trading platforms, or similar fields.
• Strong Technical Expertise in distributed systems, especially with Node.js, RabbitMQ, Python, and TypeScript.
• People Management Skills to lead, mentor, and develop a remote engineering team.
• Process-Oriented mindset with experience improving engineering processes, boosting velocity, and enhancing production quality.
• Collaborative Leadership Style with the ability to build relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
