About the position

The Facility Head at GenScript Biotech Corporation is a pivotal role responsible for overseeing all site services, including GXP and non-GMP facilities, maintenance and calibration, utility operations, building and equipment automation, environmental health and safety (EHS), engineering, capital project management, and vendor/contract management. This position requires a strategic leader who can develop and execute plans that align with the company's growth objectives and operational needs. The Facility Head will lead initiatives aimed at optimizing facility operations, enhancing space utilization, and promoting sustainability efforts. Collaboration with strategic real estate partners, architects, and internal stakeholders is essential to develop long-term site requirements and manage any necessary relocation efforts. In terms of facilities operations management, the Facility Head will oversee the daily operations, maintenance, and safety of all company facilities, which include laboratories, research spaces, and office areas. Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, such as FDA and cGMP standards, is a critical aspect of this role. The Facility Head will champion innovation in facilities engineering, incorporating new technologies to enhance building performance and sustainability. Close collaboration with IT is necessary to evolve facility systems and ensure that solutions are both creative and customer-driven. The role also encompasses managing capital projects and facility expansions from conception to completion. The Facility Head will work with cross-functional teams to assess facility needs and develop plans that support business growth and operational excellence. Vendor and contract management is another key responsibility, which includes negotiating contracts and managing relationships with external vendors, suppliers, and service providers while monitoring their performance to ensure adherence to service level agreements and quality standards. Promoting a culture of safety across all sites is paramount, and the Facility Head will work closely with the EHS team to ensure compliance with environmental reporting requirements. Additionally, the Facility Head will build and lead a high-performing facilities management team, providing guidance, mentoring, and professional development opportunities to staff.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including FDA, cGMP, and other relevant standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in facilities management, biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry required.
  • Strong knowledge of facility operations, including GMP regulations.
  • Proven track record of managing complex capital projects, real estate negotiations, and facility expansions.
  • Demonstrated outstanding technical acumen, operational understanding, and GMP compliance.
