About the position

The Head of Fraud Strategy at U.S. Bank is responsible for leading the development and implementation of fraud identification and mitigation strategies across various divisions, including Payment Services and Consumer Banking. This role focuses on enhancing fraud analytics, driving innovation, and improving customer experience while maintaining robust controls against evolving fraud threats. The position requires collaboration with senior leaders and various departments to ensure effective fraud management and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Set the vision and strategy for the enterprise risk function in collaboration with senior leaders.
  • Act as a key advisor to the Payments and Consumer Banking Vice Chairs on fraud-related matters.
  • Create an overarching fraud strategy for Payments, Community Banking Branch Delivery, and Consumer Banking Sales and Support.
  • Coordinate with other U.S. Bank departments including Technology, Payments, Risk, and Compliance.
  • Partner with risk management and operations teams to manage fraud losses and maximize profitability.
  • Develop secure, reliable, and scalable fraud eradication systems and processes.
  • Provide expertise and consultation on fraud issues to department and product managers.
  • Drive fraud process improvement and innovation continuously.
  • Identify new opportunities and develop go-to-market strategies for fraud prevention.
  • Ensure compliance with all US Bancorp policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Expertise in Fraud Prevention and/or Fraud Strategy.
  • Proven leadership in building and leading large teams.
  • 15+ years of banking/financial services experience.
  • 9+ years of management experience.
  • International experience with a global mindset.
  • BA/MBA in finance, accounting, or related field.
  • Proven leadership abilities and strategic management skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in high-growth markets outside of North America.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices in fraud prevention.
