About the position

The Head of Investment Data Strategy and Governance at MassMutual is responsible for leading the Investment Data Strategy team, defining and driving the data strategy for Investment Management (IM). This role involves collaboration with various teams across the organization to optimize governance, decision-making processes, and enhance the investment data ecosystem. The position requires strong leadership, analytical skills, and the ability to adapt to changing priorities while managing multiple initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Investment Data Strategy team to ensure effective sourcing, aggregating, distributing, and governing of investment data.
  • Partner with project and development teams to align solutions with the investment data strategy.
  • Drive business value through the delivery and adoption of data governance practices, including accountability models and data quality measurement.
  • Collaborate with teams across the organization to address data issues and implement enhancements to the data ecosystem.
  • Play a key role in designing and implementing MassMutual's target operating model for Investment Operations.
  • Provide investment portfolio reporting and analysis for various stakeholders, including the Portfolio Management team and external rating agencies.
  • Oversee the budget for market data and technology suppliers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Minimum of 12 years of investment data experience
  • Experience developing and leading high-performing, diverse teams
  • Experience as a leader in an Investment Management function
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Teams, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word)
  • Experience in analyzing data using business intelligence software such as MicroStrategy, IBM Cognos, Tableau, or equivalent tools
  • Strong understanding of various types of investment instruments including fixed income, equity securities, alternatives, and derivatives
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to condense analyses into actionable recommendations.
