About the position

The Head of Land Use & Permitting at Primer is responsible for overseeing the real estate process necessary for launching new microschools across various markets. This role focuses on reducing the friction involved in establishing these educational spaces by managing the entire real estate process, from market selection to property approval and readiness for students. The position requires a strategic mindset to scale operations efficiently while ensuring compliance with local regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the executive team to select new expansion markets for Primer.
  • Identify, source, and secure new properties within those markets.
  • Own the end-to-end process of negotiating and leasing each new property, ensuring readiness for students and navigating all approval processes.
  • Architect the real estate engine that will facilitate the opening of thousands of new microschools each year.

Requirements

  • Expertise in local approval processes including certificates of use, health inspections, and DERM approvals.
  • Ability to manage both detailed operational tasks and high-level strategic planning.
  • Experience in negotiating leases and managing property readiness.

  • Experience obtaining regulatory approval for local physical businesses in multiple municipalities.
