About the position

The Private Equity Subject Matter Expert (SME) at AIG will play a crucial role in supporting the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) team in managing the Private Equity Portfolio. This position involves a comprehensive evaluation of external managers, tactical asset decisions, and investment guideline recommendations, all while setting the strategic asset allocation for AIG. The Private Equity SME will be responsible for conducting manager due diligence, monitoring the portfolio, managing risks, and overseeing special projects related to private equity investments. This role requires collaboration with third-party managers and General Partners (GPs) across various fund strategies, including leveraged buyouts, growth equity, venture capital, mezzanine financing, real assets, and distressed assets. Additionally, the SME will oversee Direct Equity and Co-Invest portfolios, ensuring effective management and strategic alignment with AIG's investment goals. The primary responsibilities of the Private Equity SME include overseeing all investment activities within designated asset classes, advising the CIO team on allocation levels in response to market conditions and risk appetite, and coordinating risk management and reporting with external managers. The SME will also be the main point of contact for external managers, developing regular reporting processes and summarizing findings for AIG's Regional and Global CIOs. Establishing performance benchmarks, producing materials for various governing committees, and assisting in manager selection are also key aspects of this role. The SME will utilize AIG's platforms, such as Aladdin's eFront, to aggregate data and perform internal analyses, attend industry conferences, and conduct special projects that analyze private equity holdings, portfolio exposures, and investment strategies.
