About the position

The Head of Programs at TransFamily Support Services (TFSS) is responsible for overseeing and leading key programming areas aimed at supporting transgender and nonbinary youth and their families. This role involves managing program-specific managers, coordinating initiatives, and ensuring that all programs align with the organization's mission. The Head of Programs will also engage in community outreach, develop partnerships, and track program effectiveness to ensure growth and sustainability.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise managers overseeing Youth, Family, Latine, and Education & Advocacy programming.
  • Develop program strategies to expand reach and effectiveness, incorporating input from community stakeholders.
  • Oversee budgets, reporting, and data tracking for all programs.
  • Set and monitor quarterly goals to ensure consistent program growth and impact.
  • Build relationships with schools, community organizations, and advocacy networks to enhance program visibility and engagement.
  • Represent TFSS at public forums, school meetings, and events, promoting the organization's mission.
  • Develop partnerships that strengthen TFSS's programming and extend its reach, particularly within underserved communities.
  • Coordinate educational initiatives, including workshops and training for educators, medical professionals, and community groups.
  • Lead advocacy efforts by engaging with policymakers, attending public hearings, and collaborating with other advocacy organizations.
  • Provide guidance and support to Program Managers, fostering professional growth and accountability.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and team check-ins to address challenges and celebrate successes.
  • Collaborate across departments to align programming with marketing, development, and volunteer efforts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., social work, education, public health) or equivalent experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in program management, ideally within nonprofit or community-focused organizations.
  • Proven experience supervising staff and leading diverse teams.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a track record of building community partnerships.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems, such as Salesforce, and data management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, maintaining attention to detail and meeting deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Experience working with LGBTQ+ youth and families, particularly within Latine communities.
  • Knowledge of advocacy strategies and issues impacting transgender and nonbinary individuals.
