Join the Snowflake team as the Head of Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of data. As a Senior Engineering Leader, you will lead and grow the SRE function, overseeing the infrastructure across multiple cloud providers and ensuring the support of production systems in every Snowflake region. Your leadership will guide a talented team of software engineers in optimizing and scaling our platform for current and future applications. In this role, you will be responsible for setting the strategic vision for your team, ensuring accountability for team plans and deliverables. You will develop and establish the SRE discipline within Cloud Engineering, guiding your team to create software solutions that enhance our infrastructure. Your ability to shift resources across projects will be crucial in achieving execution goals and responding to customer and production challenges. You will provide strong technical leadership, focusing on quality, performance, and security, while fostering a culture of creativity and innovation. As a leader, you will be instrumental in building a strong, diverse team, participating in all stages of the recruiting process, and ensuring the career development of your reports through continuous mentorship and coaching. Collaboration with other engineering and cross-functional teams globally will be a key aspect of your role, as you work together to deliver exceptional results.

Responsibilities

• Set the strategic vision for the SRE team and ensure accountability for team plans and deliverables.
• Develop and establish the SRE discipline across Cloud Engineering.
• Guide and lead the team in building software solutions for scaling infrastructure.
• Drive team projects from idea formulation through design and implementation, collaborating with partner teams.
• Shift resources across areas and projects to achieve execution goals and respond to customer and production issues.
• Provide strong technical leadership with a focus on quality, performance, and security.
• Foster a culture of creativity and innovation while promoting practical decision-making.
• Grow and build a strong, healthy, and diverse team by participating in the recruiting process.
• Be responsible for the career development of team members, providing mentorship and coaching.
• Collaborate with other engineering teams and cross-functional teams worldwide.

Requirements

• 15+ years of industry experience in software engineering.
• 5+ years of engineering management experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with cloud-based platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP).
• 3+ years of experience with container orchestration technologies, preferably Kubernetes.
• A product development approach to delivering modern Cloud Infrastructure at scale.
• Proven track record of attracting, recruiting, hiring, leading, and growing technical teams.
• Solid engineering fundamentals with experience designing distributed systems.
• Experience in SaaS and working at scale in large production environments.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related majors, or equivalent experience.
