About the position

The Head of US Cyber Catastrophe Modelling is a leadership role within Aon's Cyber Analytics Team, responsible for overseeing cyber catastrophe modeling efforts. This position involves managing a team, collaborating with global teams, and contributing to strategic initiatives to position Aon as a leader in the cyber (re)insurance market. The role requires a blend of technical expertise in catastrophe modeling and strong communication skills to present findings to clients and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cyber catastrophe modeling for the US team within the US Cyber Analytics Team.
  • Develop/train and work with trainees, analysts, and senior analysts to complete projects.
  • Manage direct reports focused on cyber catastrophe modeling.
  • Work closely with Aon's Global Cyber Analytics Team on client work and research and development objectives.
  • Contribute to team strategy to position Aon Reinsurance Cyber as a leader in the cyber (re)insurance market.
  • Complete catastrophe modeling for reinsurance renewal work, identifying drivers of year over year changes in results.
  • Present findings in meetings with clients' ceded reinsurance professionals, underwriters, etc.
  • Contribute to tool development to improve efficiency and automate recurring tasks.
  • Participate in Aon thought leadership regarding cyber cat modeling, including developing an Aon View of Risk around cyber catastrophe vendor models and realistic disaster cyber cat scenarios.
  • Coordinate research projects with internal/external partners.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of direct industry experience in catastrophe and/or climate modeling, data cleanup/validation/analysis, or experience in an analytical field; preferably analyzing complex datasets.
  • Experience managing or mentoring teammates.
  • Excellent communicator, especially the ability to explain complicated concepts.
  • Experience with supervised and unsupervised learning.
  • Ability to think strategically, work independently, and take initiative.
  • Proven analytical skills and problem-solving experience.
  • Strong organizational skills including the ability to manage multiple assignments, work well independently, and meet deadlines in a timely manner.
  • Advanced user of R, SQL, Excel, and PowerPoint preferred.
