About the position
The Head Start Cultural Navigator/Classroom Aide plays a crucial role in supporting teachers and classroom assistants in delivering instructional activities and fostering a positive learning environment. This position also involves providing cultural and language interpretation for students and families, ensuring effective communication and engagement. The role is part-time, requiring 32 hours of work per week, primarily from Monday to Thursday, and is based in Faribault, MN.
Responsibilities
- Support teachers and classroom assistants in conducting instructional activities.
- Create a positive and engaging learning environment in the classroom and playground.
- Provide cultural and language interpretation for students and families.
- Assist in home visits and work-related events as needed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Bilingual in English and Somali, both spoken and written.
- Current, valid driver's license in good standing and personal automobile insurance.
- Ability to pass required background study as defined by the position.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to obtain Family Service Credential Certificate within 18 months of hire.
- Certification in infant/child CPR and First Aid within 3 months of hire.
