About the position

The Head Start ESL Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising classroom activities for typically developing children and those with disabilities. This role involves working collaboratively with an integrated team to support the program's goals while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. The teacher will create a conducive learning environment, develop lesson plans, and communicate regularly with parents about their children's progress.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, implement, and supervise all classroom activities.
  • Work with typically developing children and children with disabilities.
  • Collaborate with program management and specialist staff to meet regulatory standards.
  • Create an engaging and developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Plan and implement the educational curriculum through various learning experiences.
  • Develop and implement lesson plans based on children's needs and interests.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques and media based on assessment and research.
  • Screen, observe, and document children's progress in the assessment system.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding children's academic and developmental progress.
  • Plan and supervise assignments for Teaching Assistants and volunteers.
  • Maintain accurate records and submit reports in a timely manner.
  • Perform any other duties as required.

Requirements

  • EC Core or Generalist Teachers Certification required.
  • Willingness to obtain ESL Supplement within one year of service.
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Early Childhood Education (ages 3-5) preferred.
