About the position

The Head Start Teacher is responsible for planning, implementing, and supervising all classroom activities within the Head Start program. This role involves making social service referrals, fostering parent involvement, and collaborating with team members to support the program's goals, ensuring that the educational programming aligns with the Office of Head Start Performance Standards.

Responsibilities

• Implement educational programming in accordance with the program philosophy and Office of Head Start Performance Standards.
• Demonstrate and teach child development principles to parents, volunteers, and staff.
• Plan and maintain an integrated classroom environment and materials tailored to the enrolled children.
• Analyze observations and assessments to create individualized plans for each child.
• Write individual learning plans (ILPs) for each child based on observations and parent input.
• Communicate developmentally appropriately with children.
• Assist in maintaining a clean, healthy, and safe classroom environment.

Requirements

• B.A. or B.S. in Early Childhood Education or equivalent degree with experience teaching preschool-aged children preferred.
• B.A./B.S. in a related field with 30 ECE credits and experience teaching preschool-aged children required.
• B.A./B.S. in Elementary Education with 18 ECE credits and experience teaching preschool-aged children required.
• B.A./B.S. with ECE Certification and experience teaching preschool-aged children required.
• Knowledge and skills in early childhood development.
• Knowledge of Office of Head Start Performance Standards.
• Knowledge of community service resources and state/federal regulations regarding child abuse and neglect.
