About the position

The Head Start Teacher One position at Community Action, Inc. of Central Texas is a full-time role focused on providing educational leadership and nurturing the development of children aged three to five years. The teacher will design and implement lesson plans tailored to meet the individual needs of each child, ensuring a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment. The role emphasizes collaboration with parents and staff to promote school readiness and well-being among children.

Responsibilities

• Implement health and nutrition practices as defined in the Program's Service Plans.
• Conduct and document children's health and nutrition screenings according to agency policies.
• Ensure meals are pleasant experiences for children, including participating in meals with them.
• Follow up on children's absences according to the Attendance Policy.
• Report suspected Child Abuse to the appropriate authorities.
• Organize the classroom environment and update materials regularly to ensure safety and appropriateness.
• Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum daily, including required activities.
• Complete all documentation as directed in the Program Service Plans.
• Work with parents to support children's transitions into and out of the class.
• Maintain relationships with community partners and ensure compliance with standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or Elementary Education from an accredited institution.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Basic PC skills including typing and email usage.

Nice-to-haves

• Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish.
• Experience in a child care, preschool, or early education setting.
