About the position

The Head Start Teacher is responsible for providing a comprehensive educational program for children in the Head Start program, focusing on the development of the whole child. This position requires creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. The teacher will work closely with families to support children's learning and development, ensuring that each child is prepared for success in school and life. The Head Start Teacher will also collaborate with other staff members to implement curriculum and assess children's progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students. In this role, the Head Start Teacher will develop lesson plans that align with the Head Start framework and state standards, incorporating a variety of teaching methods and materials. The teacher will be responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy classroom environment, managing classroom behavior, and fostering positive relationships with students and families. Regular communication with parents and guardians is essential to keep them informed about their child's progress and to involve them in the educational process. Additionally, the Head Start Teacher will participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance their skills and knowledge in early childhood education. This position requires a commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that all children feel valued and supported in their learning environment.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field.
• Valid teaching certification or licensure in Early Childhood Education.
• Experience working with young children in an educational setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with families and staff.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with Head Start or similar early childhood programs.
• Bilingual skills in English and Spanish or other languages.
